Haunting Experience - The Man in the Hat

by Andrew Tayag

I was ten when I say my first ghost . . .

I was in the Philippines. There was a brown out, or as people there call it, a brown out. I wanted all the attention so I went inside my pitch black house, to get the candles. When I entered my kitchen, I saw a towering figure.

Since it was dark I couldn't really see, but I made out the lines of his body. He was tall, with a large overcoat, and his right hand was raised in the air. I didn't see what was in the hand, but I assumed it was a knife.

So I ran out, screaming at the top of my lungs. When my dad came in with a bat, I don't know where he got it, the man was gone.

I've been to the Philippines twice because my mom is from there. I've experienced a bunch of brownouts but never anything like that! Where were you in the Philippines? Manila, or an island off there. I go to Leyte when I go :)
