Ghost Lady At The Menger Hotel, San Antonio, TX

by Mary Jo Fraley

I took this photo in the old lobby of the Menger Hotel. My husband and I waited until about 4 a.m. to go walking around. We also got some really good orb shots, but I think that this was the best, by far.

I stood back, and to the right of the furniture in this room. It is actually corded off, so no one is even allowed to walk through that area, or sit on the furniture. True enough, no one was sitting in there, or so it seemed. If you look closely at the reflection of that sofa in the glass door, there is the form of a lady sitting on it. I blew the photo up just to get a better look at her. From what I could tell she has her hair piled on top of her head, and she's wearing a sheer scarf, or veil of some sort.

The Menger sits right across the street from the Alamo, and opened it's doors soon after the seige.

Ghost Lady For Sure
by: Mary Jo Fraley

I blew this one up when I first took it, and was able to make out the lady herself. Besides, if it was the back of the chair, or sofa the shape of the furniture would have to be higher. If you would, please see that the backs of the furniture is all rounded.

I can blow the photo up to make it easier to see, but it gets really grainy when I do. Of some interest, when you look up the history of this hotel, its said that a ghost woman is seen at times in this lobby. One girl reportedly saw her sewing, knitting, or something. I wonder what a ghost does when they finish what they are working on, and where do they get their yarn anyway? hmmmm

Thank You

Hi Mary Jo,

Thanks for the pic.

I made my own version of your photo. I enlarged it and drew an arrow to the area I believe you are referring to. (See arrow 1).

Examining this - that appears to be the back of the chair. Am I missing it?

However, while looking at this, something weird popped out at me. (See arrow 2). I know there's an explanation, but that almost looks like an apparition.

Who can offer an explanation for #2? And Mary Jo, let me know if I got the right area.

Thanks!
