HPI Chronicles: A Haunting at the Elk Grove Brewery & Restaurant
By Paul Dale Roberts, HPI Ghostwriter
Before I talk about the Elk Grove Brewery & Restaurant, I must tell you first about a residential haunting somewhere in Sacramento County.
The date is Saturday, January 19, 2008, I have Gimme Shelter- Rolling Stones & Mississippi Queen - Mountain blaring on my car radio. Thoughts of where I was going and my conversation with Rachel Fite on why her apartment may be haunted ran through my mind. Rachel Fite has been dealing with the paranormal all her life. She grew up in a haunted home, she moved into a haunted apartment and she did another move into another apartment and this one is haunted too. It appears that she has brought objects from her original home into these apartments and the entities have attached themselves to these objects and possibly to Rachel. I went to Rachel's apartment in some location in Sacramento County. From all appearances, the apartment seems normal. I went ahead and interviewed Rachel and this is what she has to say. She moved into the apartment in 2004. The apartment she lived at before was haunted. The activities that she has experienced since childhood from house to apartment and to another apartment are, plastic bowl flying out of a cabinet, the fireplace coming off and on, a dog named Baja that may have been possessed and actually spoke the words "let me in". When she asked the entities to slam a door, they did exactly that. At times she feels drained. Could it be that the entities drain her energy to enhance their own abilities? She constantly feels cold and had me touch her skin. Her skin was cold, while my own skin was warm. She felt cold in her apartment, while I felt comfortably warm. Rachel says she constantly feels cold spots around her body, they never seem to stop. She tells me that the duplex that her mother and father lived in, there was a legend in the neighborhood about a lady alcoholic that got into an argument with the witch of the neighborhood. The witch placed a curse on the alcoholic woman and from there on in, paranormal activity started occurring in her parent's home. A home that she lived in as a little girl. She also feels her deceased cocker spaniel George lives in the apartment with her. Her neighbors feel that these new apartments were built on Indian land, because at times, they hear the sound of Indian drum beats. Rachel showed me a dozen of orb pictures she has captured in her apartment. When doing her own investigation of her apartment, it made her curious and on her own, she investigated the Doreathea Puente home and the Broadway Cemetery. She feels she may be a sensitive, because at times she has vivid dreams and actually predicted the death of her own grandmother. As an independent ghost hunter, she wants to someday investigate the very haunted Wolfe Manor in Fresno.
After my interview with Rachel, I conducted my own investigation. I captured many orb pictures throughout her apartment. I used my Listen Up Sound Enhancer and heard a woman's inaudible whisper. I also caught a glimpse of a moving shadow, while I was talking with Rachel. I contacted Shannon 'Ms. Macabre' McCabe, President of HPI and gave her information from this preliminary investigation. Shannon is now preparing a team for an upcoming investigation.
Below are names of various types of orbs that you may one day capture on film. And here is some 'food for thought'. Could walkie talkies be used as ghost hunting equipment? When we had walkie talkies at a residential haunting, it appeared that the entities communicated through the walkie talkies. Example: Paranormal Investigator Debbie Talani says make your presence known, a series of knocks are heard. Debbie says "thank you" and instantly the walkie talkie turns on by itself and a female's voice says "your welcome". The next time around I say "show yourself" and the walkie talkie turns on by itself and some people hear a growl or the words "get out". Could the entities be using the battery source of the walkie talkie to communicate? Or was this a female and male trucker that coincidentally said the right things at the right time when we were trying to communicate with the dead? Your guess. Below are the names of various orbs and some explanations:
Designer Orb: This orb has delicate designs within the orb itself. The designs can be as complex as a snowflake. With enhancement, sometimes people make out faces in the orbs.
Baby Orb: Small orbs that may be scattered here and there in a photograph.
Mother Orb: Usually larger orb seen next to a baby orb.
Crystal Orb: Very distinct bright orb, that looks like a crystal.
Blue Orb: Very rare, but some orbs appear to be in the color of blue. Associated with a strong entity presence.
Pink Orb: Associated with being feminine. Rare colored orbs that are usually captured where a female entity may haunt. Some pink orbs are associated with a deceased child or baby.
Red Orb: Usually captured at cemeteries. Some have been associated with the camera person's finger blocking a portion of the lens, causing a red orb effect.
Giant Orbs or Engulfing Orbs: Huge orbs the size of a human are captured on film and at times they may be engulfing other orbs in their path.
Comet Orbs: Moving orbs captured on film, it distinguishes an orb moving in flight and may have a tail of light behind it.
Dust Orbs: Dusty areas outside will give an effect on a digital photograph of a multitude of orb activity.
Bug Orbs: Digital photographs of moving bugs, causing orb like effect. At times been known to cause the 'rod' effect.
Faint Orbs: Orbs that are very transparent and it takes a lot of scrutinizing of the photograph to distinguish that an orb may actually be on the film.
Intelligent Moving Orbs: Orbs that move intelligently, hover, move towards the right, come back to the left. You may ask the orb to sit on your lap and it appears to hover over your lap.
Light Refraction Orbs: Orbs created by light refraction from an artificial light, sunlight or even shutter speed.
