I wrote the above story. I actually work at the retreat. I myself have never felt anything but a peace. I did have an unexplained experience. It was the first day I worked there.
I was leaving, walking to my car, and just off the parking lot is a walking path. Standing under a tree next to the walking path was a man, I believed to be a monk, because of what he was wearing. He smiled at me, nodded his head and had his hand up towards me in a waving position, but not actually waving. I smiled back at him, nodded and gave a little wave. The next day I shared this and was told that there were no monks at the retreat.
I have no fearful feelings at the retreat, as I already mentioned, only a peaceful feeling. I have been to the basement quite a few times to get supplies and have never seen or heard anything unusual. All I have to say is,"there is good and evil in this world." This is a place to search for the good. Evil will come and try to destroy that feeling of peace. I was awaken the other morning at approx. 3am with what I know was a whispering in my ear. The message was, "When God brings you peace, the devil will come to try and destroy it." I believe it.
So just keep seeking for that peace and keep the faith that your Father will give you the strength to stand up to that evil. We can't and won't fully understand the unexplainable while we are here on this earth, but I feel one day that we will. We will understand it all.
