2005 Anne Mazurek, was driving from Duncan, BC heading towards Victoria. She reached the highest point of the Malahat, the S-turn at the foot of Tunnel Hill, at about 1am, Trent Peters, crossed the center line colliding with her. He drove a truck and she was in a smaller truck.
The car exploded into flames and she died on impact. No one could get to her because of the heat and people could only watch helplessly.
The man who hit her ran away. Down the side of the 350 foot cliff, swam the Goldstream Channel and went home where the police arrested him later that morning.
I drove past that spot many times and have never seen anything strange.
Saturday, September 26, 2009 @ 3:55am, I drove up that hill heading for Hornby Island. I got to the top and suddenly was disoriented and didn't know where I was (while still driving), when I cleared my head (within seconds) I saw a girl standing between the Rock lookout and the road. just standing there with her hands to her side, long brown hair. She wasn't doing anything but standing there.
